end of summer. almost.

I woke up and checked my instagram feed just like I do every morning, you never know who of my friends had a baby over night after all. Today caught me off guard because all my Utah and Idaho friends were getting their littles off to the first day of school! We are still soaking up summer days here, and will for a little while longer. 

12 days to be exact. 12 more days of lazy mornings, breakfast at 10am, and swimming in the pool in our underwear in the afternoon- Ryan, not me I swear. 12 more days for Ryan to be my little toddler and not a school attending, big kid. 

I know it is only preschool but I am sure I will feel the same way Kelle did here.

I can tell you're nervous. I am too. And I have replayed in my mind so many times what tomorrow will look like. I want you to be happy. I want you to run into that classroom and feel the opportunity that exists between those walls, in those books, through those friends. You might not feel it right away, and that's hard for me. Because I won't be there to hold your hand when you're feeling a little bit insecure, reminding you of your strengths and the happiness that exists around you. 

So for now I am planning on soaking up every last minute of summer break before the structure of fall beckons us. We have more farmers markets to attend, more bubbles to blow, more otter pops to eat, and more sidewalk chalk to dissolve in the pool  color with. 

This crazy baby with his manly eye brows and all, is going to miss his sidekick big time. They really are best friends.

He started cutting his top teeth this week and decided that he is okay with breastfeeding again, yay!

table food

I got the okay at 4 months to slowly start introducing baby food. Weston totally hated it so I didn't force it, I did keep trying every few weeks but had no luck! 

I read about baby led weaning and we went that route for a while but I could tell he wasn't getting enough food that way, he was mostly just chewing on things and not digesting much.

I wasn't going to worry much about it and just continue to exclusively breastfeed him but he started sleeping less and was more cranky. Sadly it took a week or so for me to realize he was just super hungry all the time! By this age, Ryan was eating 3 meals of baby food a day and mama milk, Weston was just nursing. My poor baby.

I started buying the Happy Tot baby food pouches from Target and he loves them. They are a bit more spendy than I would like to for regular meals though. Thanks to Ryan "helping" me feed West some of his mac and cheese I realized he was totally ready for small bites of table food!

So now he is on table food with the pouches if we are out and about during meal times and he is loving this new world. His favorites are- turkey, cheese, grapes, olives, apples, green beans, and pasta. I chop everything up in my pampered chef chopper, super easy.

It's all good until I try to spoon feed him anything, he gets so mad and wants to do it himself!

So for record keeping sake- nailed the table food thing at 7.5 months! 

Also he is getting HAIR.

weston is 6 months old

We are half way to one and I want to just cry about it. I absolutely love this baby of mine and the stage he is in but I miss my little cuddly infant. Where did time go? As of tomorrow we are officially closer to being one than to the day I first held him. Every day I fall in love with him more and more, he amazes me.

I love his big blue eyes, the fact that he is starting to get some hair, and those rolls. Dont even get me started on the rolls. I love how he fits ever so perfectly into our family and how I cant imagine my life without him even though he's only been here for a few months. I am so grateful for his sweet spirit and magical personality. He makes everyone around him happy. I can't take him anywhere without people just flocking to  him and smiling and laughing because he is so happy all the time. He makes me want to be better and be happier too. 

He has his 6 month check up on Tuesday. I will update this with his stats but I am anxious to see how big he is getting. At six months he...

still has chubby rolls

wears 6-9 month size clothes

size 2 disposables and bum genius one size pocket diapers

cloth diapering 95% of the time

loves to breastfeed  

will take a bottle of my milk if I am working and likes to hold it himself

sleeps all night and takes cat naps during the day (i miss long naps!)

sitting up 100% on his own

crawling everywhere and moving fast

can go from crawling to sitting on his own 

loves to play with and throw toys- cars are his favorite

is obsessed with tv remotes and phones. I dont let him play with them but he always tries 

hates baby food but loves table food- doing the baby led weaning program

laughs ALL the time

loves sophie and anything else he can chew on

still only has 2 teeth on the bottom

loves to take baths but thinks he can roll around in the tub

loves to drink water in a sippy cup

pulls himself up on the side of the crib

climbs/crawls over everything 

likes to play outside and eat grass

likes to ride in the car as long as he can see Ryan

had his first play date at a friends house without me or Ryan

daddy is his favorite person in the world

likes to watch Baby Einstein 

loves to play on his own but will crawl over when he wants a cuddle

loves to stick his tongue out

gets so distracted by everything when hes eating or sleeping

likes to be rocked in the rocking chair

prefers to sleep with a fan AND music playing (picky picky)

loves to suck on his fingers and thumb

starting to see some similarities in looks between him and his brother 

still loves his pacie/wubanub

sleeps in a sleep sack and rolls around with his lovey blanket til hes found the perfect spot

very "text book" and easy!

is perfect as can be! 

Happy 6 months Weston, the first half has been amazing- cant wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us!9-

Someone MAKE IT STOP. but then again he is amazingly adorable right. I am obsessed with him.
