weekend happenings part 1 #bbcsea

If you follow my tweets @lmalberts you have read about the fabulous/crazy/wonderful things that were seen and heard at Bloggy Boot Camp, Seattle (#bbcsea) this weekend! If not I am going to give you a snap shot play by play here.
Friday- pick up blog friend Amy, whom I had never met before and drive to meet up with Stephanie and Mandy, who I have also never met! Ahh talk about nerve racking! I have known these girls via blogging, fb, and twitter for almost a year now and its completely amazing and crazy how much we are all in love with each other at first sight. I had the BEST time ever with them, never awkward silence or not sure what to say, never a dull moment. It was a non stop best time of your life ever kind of weekend. We stayed up til nearly 3 am talking. It was wonderful being with girls who knew me inside and out, its crazy how much we can know about a person by following their blog for a while, these girls are my kindred sisters and I love them to pieces.

Saturday was our beloved all day blog boot camp. We had class after class on content, monetizing, time management, networking, and pretty much being a blogging bad mama jama. My head was swimming by the end of the day with all the things I learned it was such a great experience. The best part of the day was meeting the lovely Mama Kat . I am in love with her blog and weekly writing workshops which I am promising myself and you that I will start up again soon. Not only is she talented and witty she is a glamazon. So gorgeous and so tall I was pretty much in awe of her. The girls convinced me to finally and bashfully introduce myself at the end of the day, oh heck yes she took a picture with me using HER iphone. I got a few shots too but dont have them back yet. She is just amazing.

the great exchange

I am so blessed to have incredible blog friends! We have watched each others babies grow from itty bitty, fresh from the womb, babies to toddlers! We have cheered on crawling, and solid foods, watched first steps, cried over sleepless nights, and shared advice on bottles or breastfeeding.
I love these ladies and their babies so much. They are all talented and wonderful, visit their blogs and tell them we sent you!

This year we decided to do a baby gift exchange. Kingston chose the names out of a hat and Wyatt got to get a gift for Ryan!

Its pretty standard for Ry to have a fit about everything lately. Thank goodness I captured the moment on camera to tease him when he is older. Here he is, unable to get the loot out of the bag.
 Checking out his presents!
 "ok mom open it NOW!"
Thank you Wyatt for the Color Wonder, sweet tattoos, and tubby crayons! I LOVE them!
We had to color right away, how many markers can one boy hold at a time?

Ryan got to buy a gift for Claire go see her blog to find out what we picked out! Thanks to all the momma's that played along this was so much fun!

To see the other babies go here...

time for some mine

I havent been writing about Monkey as much lately. Its probably because he will do 10 things a day that make me go- OH I need to put that on the blog. Then by the time I get him to bed I am too darn tired to remember what it was that made me laugh that day. I decided it would be best to pull out the camera. Here's to you kid!

Ryan has been wanting to spend lots of time with me lately so we decided to make brownies! He loved helping me and I let him sneak a taste.

This is what it looks like when I try to vacuum. He will stand there and laugh at me. He has never been afraid of that thing and sometimes I wish he was! I will run over his toes over and over and he still wont budge. We got him a toy vacuum which he will RUN and get to follow along with me. Then its a game of lets run our vacuum into mommies which is always really productive.

Bathtub crayons are the best! They make tubby time last twice as long and are easy to clean up. I love toddler art!

This flip in emotion is pretty standard these days. We are heading into the terrible two's at full speed. One minute he will be my sweet little bubbly angel child and then next I want to run and hide in the closet- which I have actually done before. He is full of a lot of personality thats for sure.

Today we went to lunch with some friends of mine from elementary school- Caige and Katie. I took the 2 pictures above while Ryan was anxiously waiting to see baby Graycie who also came along with her mama, Caige. We havent seen each other  in almost 10 years. It was great to catch up even though Ryan was just *awesome* as you can tell.

The sisterhood of motherhood

Sorry lovelies I am too tired to blog something beautiful or brashly honest for you but I will leave you with this great little article written by Amy at Better Way Moms
in case you didn't know by now I LOVE this website. Real. Honest. Funny. They nailed it.

Camaraderie among women has never been my strong suit. I grew up with one brother and no sisters. I had cousins my age but none lived closed by. I of course had friends but as a tomboy, I didn't always mesh with the "girlie" girls. I liked my friendships in high school but never felt quite at home — just enough to get by and be properly socially integrated. And by now you may have guessed that I never joined a sorority either.

In college, I developed some truly great friendships and became a bit of a social butterfly. I attended a very large university and met tons of interesting people from all over the country. We all swore we'd be friends forever but as careers, moves and marriages materialized, we separated and went off to live our lives. We stay in touch to touch base and then once we're satisfied we've checked in, we go about living our lives once more.
I can say that I will love and adore my New York City single friends forever (though most of us are no longer single). I feel myself with them in a second’s notice no matter how much time passes by.

But it wasn't until I became a mother that I felt deeply rooted in a pre-defined community of women, some of whom were complete strangers to me. Walking down the street with my toddler, I can feel an underlying connection with woman I’ve never met simply because we are mothers. Even women I see without children — if they smile a certain way at my daughter, I can identify my kind immediately. Sometimes we swap stories on the triumphs, trials, tribulations and tantrums. Other times we catch each other's eye and share a momentarily glance of recognition before parting ways.

And the friends I've known pre-motherhood, we are even more connected now than we were before. It's as if an entire new dimension of consciousness has opened up to us. We really spill our guts out, so eager to explore this new and uncharted territory and no matter what we share, there is always infinitely more to discover.

Then there are friends I've met because I am a mother, and a bond forms that's so natural and easy. We have an instant foundation from which to build, and our continued communication about our lives then binds and strengthens our connection. They may be new friends but once ingrained in my life, it's hard to imagine life before them.

When I reflect on the friendships in my life, I am so grateful to have found this community that has accepted me so warmly, with such compassion and grace. It's more than finally finding a club that would have me as a member (sorry Groucho Marx), I feel completely at home in this shared life experience. To me, we are sisters in motherhood: all on the same journey, taking different roads with maps and compasses that sometimes don't work. But with my fellow moms besides me, I know I'll continue to find my way.

you should *follow* me so I know you are here

Safety, hope, and lots of faith

We have a pool as most of you know. we go the pool everyday as most of you know too. My son also takes a bath everyday. That is a lot of time in the water and I am sure your kiddos and all the kiddos you know are the same way so please read and take notes!

About a week ago this link was posted all over fb.. everyone made it their status's (oops I didnt I am making up for it now) Being super wise and a mommy you would think I knew about this but I DID NOT.

"Drowning doesnt look like drowning"

Also a girl my siblings and I went to high school with is going through a horrible tragedy right now. Their sweet baby girl Preslee, who is just a few months older than Ryan, went missing and was found in the canal down stream from where she was staying, thanks to a loving Heavenly Father and the quick action from a man doing irrigation work she was rescued and given infant CPR. However she is still unresponsive and in critical condition at Primary Childrens Hospital in Utah. Friends and loved ones have set up a fund to help financially support the family during these times. We are all praying for more daily miracles like the ones that happened to the Staker family (who visited the Sullengers and gave hope)

Their family blog with daily updates on Preslee's condition

Help support the family here

Please keep them in your prayers, read the article about what drowning really looks like, get CPR trained, and help out your community and keep a close eye on all the littles (and everyone else) swimming around you this summer. I am guilty of being so happy Ryan doesnt need me to hold him in the tubby that I will RUN out of the room to grab a towel or something, leaving him alone for seconds at a time, he has always been just fine but I will NEVER do that again, I promise you baby boy.

I am grateful for a gracious and loving Heavenly Father who is always near and for the faith we have that everything will be ok if we put our trust in Him.
