Ryans big boy room reveal

Its a good thing I am not a DIY or design blogger because posts would never happen. I want a space to be perfect before I will let anyone, not blood related, see it. And that takes time- so when I said a few months ago that I was going to start showing parts of our house I have been working on it room by room ever since.

There are a few things in his room that will eventually change, I havent knocked it out of the park yet but here we go-

The thing that needs the most work is the furniture because its such a random hodge/podge of hand me downs and left over ikea goodness.

The bed is a full size- we went from a crib straight to that and it was perfect. It was handed down from my parents and Ryan loves it. Its big enough we didnt worry about him rolling off in the beginning and also big enough it can double as a guest room if needs be.

the "night stand" is a cheap Ikea table that just needs to GO but we already it so it works for now.

Dresser was my fathers when he was a kid, they have kept it all this time and my brother used it for a while too. I am not a fan of how it looks but I like the sentimental value.

Bedding from ikea as well, car and striped pillow were ikea fabric. I sewed them using this tutorial. Green pillow from ikea. 

My goal for this room was for it to match his personality- its loud and vibrant! I love all the bright colors and textures.

Projects to do are-
paint the bed and get a long short dresser to replace the old dresser and nightstand table
redo the space over his bed and ditch the letters

Hey friends, lots on my mind lately- nothing big just a few things I dont want to forget. Expect a lot of bullet points because well frankly thats the best way to knock this one out.

Conversation with ryan:
I was getting ready to go out of town for the weekend and my mom was dropping my off at the rental car place. Ryan was grabbing the car seat handle screaming DONT TAKE MY BABY! He was so mad that Weston T. had to come with me.
me: you cant have weston stay with you, I have to nurse him
ryan: NO I nurse baby weston
me: ryan you dont have nursies sorry dude
ryan: yes me have nursies (as he is lifting up his shirt to show me his nipples)
me: but you dont have anything in them
ryan: (grabbing his chest) YES me have daddy milk in me nursies. me nurse baby Weston!

OH MY GOSH I couldnt make this up if I tried.

hmmmm what else... hubs asked me if I was ready to move West into his own room and I actually started crying! I guess that means no. I am not that mom, I am way too attached to my babies that would just hurt too bad to have him so far away. In a few months sure..

Everyone is pregnant right now! Well I have so many mommy friends so everyone is always pregnant but I swear I find out about new ones every day. There is this really crazy thing inside of me that is jealous of them. Yes I just had a baby 7.5 weeks ago and this is completely insane. I really did not enjoy being pregnant at all so I dont know whats going on. We will have more babies for sure but not any time soon. I think its just the excitement of it all that I love. I love having babies. I would relive the end of my labor and Westons birth a hundred times over. There is no high like that anywhere else on earth. I miss that feeling. Congrats to everyone with babies on the way :)

I got all excited to do some redecorating and its kind of on hold. As in REALLY on hold til I figure out exactly what I want to do. I decided that I want to make some pillows because I cant find any that I like and I want to find a good place to do this upholstered wall but not sure where. I feel like a hummingbird with bright shinny objects. I want to do it all and I cant just stay on one idea, I keep changing my mind. I have the hardest time figuring out what looks good with what and how to incorporate everything I like into my space without it looking like pinterest threw up all over my house. Anyone want to help you are more than welcome.

Wow this is totally all over the place huh.. I warned you! Weston looks like my side of the family 100% and Ryan is hubs side all the way. I wonder if they will always look so different or will change as they grow.

weston and aunt hannah 

I lost all my baby weight (go me! dont hate) and then I started gaining weight back. I dont get it this sucks. I have been so bad about what I am eating and havent wanted to start working out and was hoping breastfeeding would do its job like last time. I dont need to be itty bitty but I am still young enough that I havent had to worry about my figure- but I really would like to fit into all the clothes I have. Thats all I ask! We just got gym memberships to anytime fitness. I can see it from my front door so its close enough I have no reason not to hit that up every few days. Ughhhhh

And to wrap up the most random post ever... another conversation with the toddler.

well duh, there you have it. Today was Westons blessing day, a very special thing that we do with all our babies in our church. I will have more on that tomorrow with lots of pictures because he had the cutest little white outfit for it.

Wait didnt I say bullet points? Not a single one.. oops!

Weston's western themed nursery reveal.

Being in a rental I am not really in the mood to paint so we are making due with our cream walls for now- better than stark white for sure though! I am not a wasteful person by any means (except for left overs from dinner the night before. eww) so when we found out we had another little man on the way I got excited to re use all of Ryans stuff and add a little more.

The bedding which I am in LOVE with was gifted from friends who no longer needed it, my rocking chair that has already had many miles on it was a $20 steal off craigslist. I made the pillow and with a little wood glue and some tlc it was good to go. Worked amazing for Ryan and will for Weston as well. Curtains, rod, and lamp (from our apartment family room before) from Ikea. Mantel over window I found in my in laws garage, paint and vinyl lettering did the trick. A cross stitch sampler in the same colors from my Aunt was given to me when I first went to kindergarten. Horse shoes one the wall were from a vintage street fair and the frames were $1 each from a garage sale I believe. Other items from the local craft store, second hand/vintage finds, and what not. The large W is made of a cardboard ish material and is from Joanns for $10. I was going to do something fun with it but I kind of like the way it is now.

I still need to swap out the pictures for ones of Weston, he loves his brother but not that much ;) Once he starts sleeping in there I will also hang the "W" on the wall.

Maybe my favorite item is the green army foot locker under the window- it belonged to hubs grandfather, whom Weston Teuscher is named after. It contains all the baby toys right now.

While Weston doesnt sleep in here at night yet he hangs out in his crib and sometimes naps for a bit in there while we are playing upstairs.

home makeover. downstairs great room

Here is a side of me I hate to admit is there but I figured if I was going to do a before and after of our downstairs living area it should be a realistic view. This is life with a busy body toddler and a new baby. Its messy, chaotic, and super unorganized. I hate it! Not the kid part but the messy part of course. I feel clausterphobic in this space. I need open, clean, fresh spaces. 

First picture is from the hallway. we have long skinny hallway from our front door and it opens up into this great room space. 

 On the stairs- yes there is food out everywhere, ryan emptied the fridge while I was taking these cause I forgot to put the lock back on it.

 Projects in the works are: new grey sectional from costco, paint the entertainment center, put a collage of fun things on the wall above couch and a few other places, put ottoman upstairs because our couch came with one!

 take down those horrid blinds that break all the time and replace them with pretty curtains that help keep the heat IN my house. large canvas over kitchen table and some sort of pretty centerpiece thats not left over dishes from all the meals we had brought in when west was born (yeah I know that was FIVE weeks ago) rug under kitchen table. half blinds or curtains over sink window

 I think we were watching land before time on tv... ewww look at how messy this is! I am so embarrassed right now.

my painted hodge podge book cases with the huge eye sore that is our fish tank. Arent those supposed to be pretty or something? what if I split up the book cases and put that black leather ottoman in between and hung a picture or something in the middle OR my star repainted.

I have a lot to paint, including the candy apple red bar stools (what was I thinking) they will be black to match our table. btw I HATE PAINTING this will be interesting.

Okay one room at a time right? Luckily the boys rooms are pretty much DONE and our master is almost. its just this big space that we spend 80% of our time in.
