vbac

Today I rocked Ryan an extra long time before putting him down for his nap. I know two things: he isnt going to nap much longer, and soon he wont be able to to lay on my lap because of the ever growing baby bump. I am wondering if they make rocking chairs for moms with KIDS not babies anymore. We just dont fit in it like we used too. He knees get all crammed up in his arm puts or his legs get caught in the arm rests... sigh.

I have had lots of people ask this next question so I figured this would be the best way to get the answer out there.

Are you having another C section and why did you have one the first time?

Ryan, my dear sweet stubborn Ryan, at 20 weeks gestation positioned himself like so

Once he found this oh so comfy spot in utero he stayed put. With the position of my placenta trying to rotate him could have resulted in the loss of both our lives. That was not a chance I was willing to take. When I found out I was pregnant with Ryan I always had this feeling in the back of my mind that he would be a C section baby and so I was not bothered by this one bit. I know lots of women who are very particular about their birth plan and refuse to do it whatever which way. I just wanted a healthy baby and a healthy mama in the end. As you can tell we got both. Added bonus of knowing his birth date ahead of time! I was able to get up and shower, put make up on, and take my time. Then around noon I knew I would have a baby. The whole day was just very nicely planned out.   :)

In my first OB appointment with Jelly Bean I told him I wanted to do a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and he is 100% on board with that plan. I have a feeling this baby will be head down like its supposed to be! I am no where near done having children so I wont opt for having another C section if I can help it. But as is it shows with Ryan- the baby decides!

My OB is willing to do a VBAC after 2 C sections but that makes me super nervous! Do you know anyone who has done that?

I have a good friend that had to have a c-section with her first. But since then she has had to more children, both delivered vaginally! You can do it!

Typically it's NO BIG deal these days. You were a C-sect and the other 3 were not, I did fine and that was 20-ish years ago. All depends on "the bean" and what it's doing!

I've had two VBACs. You can do it! Its all about being an advocate for yourself and equipping yourself with knowledge. http://ican-online.org/ is a great resource and from there you should be able to find your local chapter. In your local chapter you'll find lots of support and knowledgable women. Good luck on your journey!

I get nervous about doing a VBAC after 2 c-sections too. My doctor actually has a different opinion than yours. If for whatever reason I have to have a second c-section than she's no longer comfortable recommending a VBAC. Her feeling is that the risk of rupture and hemorrhage at that point get too high. Because of this I'm hoping that my second delivery can be vaginal too. I'd love to be able to experience that but I agree that as long as baby and mommy are healthy than I'm okay with however things work out.

Oh. I am so excited for you to try a VBAC. It's great your OB is on board too. Our bodies are meant to have babies, right? I hope so anyway. I'm hoping with our next one to do a VBAC too.
Best of luck lil' lady.
